Why Dallas roofs take such a beating
Dallas County sits where dryline convection fires in spring and matures into supercells as it moves east. Those storms produce the large hail this metro is known for — and North Texas has produced some of the costliest hailstorms on record.
The operationally important feature of hail is how narrow the damage swath is. A hail core is commonly a mile or two wide. One subdivision gets destroyed while the neighbourhood across the highway is completely untouched. This is why "everyone else's roof is fine" tells you nothing about your own, and why a per-property inspection matters more with hail than with any other hazard.
Spring storms here also carry damaging straight-line wind and the occasional tornado, so a single system often produces both stripped shingle fields and impact damage in the same neighbourhood.
Working across Dallas County
We cover the county broadly — East Dallas, Oak Cliff, Lake Highlands, Preston Hollow, Far North Dallas, plus Garland, Mesquite, Irving, Richardson and Grand Prairie. After a hail event the calls arrive in a tight geographic band, which actually makes scheduling easier: if your street was hit, your neighbours almost certainly were too, and we will do several houses in one visit.
Older Dallas housing stock carries a lot of three-tab asphalt shingle, which is the most hail-vulnerable common covering — the mat fractures readily and granule loss is immediate. Newer construction across the northern suburbs uses impact-rated architectural shingle, which performs considerably better but is not immune at larger stone sizes.
