Caught between two storm regimes
McLennan County's position on I-35 puts it at the overlap of two distinct severe weather patterns. North Texas dryline supercells track southeast through the county, and Central Texas storms enhanced by the Balcones Escarpment move up from the south. The result is a longer active season than either DFW or Austin experiences alone, with damaging hail possible across a wider window.
Waco also has a notable tornado history, and the local awareness of that is high. In practical terms it means residents here tend to take wind damage seriously and call quickly, which is genuinely helpful — the sooner a compromised roof is covered, the less it costs.
The county mixes urban Waco with substantial rural acreage, so calls range from city bungalows to farm properties with metal outbuildings.
Working across McLennan County
We cover Waco proper — including the Baylor area, Castle Heights, Mountainview and the older central neighbourhoods — plus Hewitt, Woodway, Robinson, Bellmead and the surrounding rural county.
Central Waco carries a lot of older housing with steeper pitches and, in the historic districts, some genuinely old roof structures where decking condition cannot be assumed. On those we check what we are anchoring into before committing a fastener — driving a batten screw into decking that will not hold it achieves nothing and makes the eventual repair worse.
Rural properties in the county bring metal roofing and outbuildings, which get ballasted rather than penetrated as standard.
